Interview with Nora Jain, Tabla Cuisine – New Franchising Opportunities

Tell us about how Tabla first started – what was the vision then and what is the vision now? 

In 2008, Anshu and I embarked on a culinary adventure by opening Tabla, a single restaurant in our hometown dedicated to authentic Indian cuisine. What began as a local gem with a vibrant ballroom for community celebrations has now blossomed into a vision much larger than we first imagined. Fueled by our passion and drive, we are now steering Tabla towards becoming a national franchise, expanding our mission from serving our city to serving the nation. Every day brings us closer to turning our dream of sharing Tabla’s flavors across the United States into reality.

Today, Tabla stands poised to be the catalyst that propels the revolution of Indian food across America. Our vision is to not only spread the rich flavors of India but also provide a profitable enterprise for our franchisees where they can maximize their return on investment. This evolution from a single location to a pioneering franchise embodies our journey from then to now—a testament to the power of vision and the spirit of entrepreneurship.

Tell us about the decisions for starting franchising?  What are the opportunities for potential investors? 

The decision to start franchising Tabla was influenced by the brand’s recognition as a premium restaurant in Central Florida, combined with the opportunities available in new markets. This expansion allows potential franchisees to choose between two models: Full Service Fine Dining and Fast Casual with a limited menu, catering to different market needs and investment levels.

For potential investors, Tabla presents several appealing opportunities. Franchisees can expect to drive higher sales and provide more jobs compared to non-franchise establishments, translating into potential higher wages and advancement opportunities for employees. Tabla supports its franchisees extensively, offering two to three weeks of initial training, head chef training for fine dining franchises, and ongoing on-site support to ensure a smooth operation. Financially, the investment starts from $185,000 for a café and $324,000 for a fine dining setup, with initial franchise fees set at $36,000 for Fast Casual and $45,000 for Fine Dining.
