We have been notified by our friends that Bananas Modern American Diner will close after Mother’s Day this Sunday according to a note posted on their facebook page.
The restaurant, popular for their colorful “drag queen” gospel Sunday brunch and late night hours serving up brunch dishes, is run by Nicholas Olivieri and Eddie Nickell of FMI Restaurant Group – which also runs Funky Monkey restaurant in Mills 50 and in Pointe Orlando. The restaurant will reopen, according to the note, as Mills Brew Pub, featuring pub fare from burgers to Belgian fries. The restaurant is scheduled to open this July. This is a developing story, check back for updates.
