Bananas Modern American Diner to close, re-open as Mills Brew Pub

We have been notified by our friends that Bananas Modern American Diner will close after Mother’s Day this Sunday according to a note posted on their facebook page.

The restaurant, popular for their colorful “drag queen” gospel Sunday brunch and late night hours serving up brunch dishes, is run by Nicholas Olivieri and Eddie Nickell of FMI Restaurant Group – which also runs Funky Monkey restaurant in Mills 50 and in Pointe Orlando. The restaurant will reopen, according to the note, as Mills Brew Pub, featuring pub fare from burgers to Belgian fries. The restaurant is scheduled to open this July. After 4 years and close to one half million meals served Bananas Diner will officially close after Mothers Day Brunch this Sunday.
Thank you for all of the support over the years and the wonderful memories ..FMI Restaurant group “our parent company” is bringing Mills Ave a new concept called Mills Brewpub a whole new Beer and dining experience for the Mills 50 district .. we will open in early July… come see us this week and weekend and say goodbye to Bananas. We will completely renovate the space to an ultra modern Beer Pub and Eatery. Our famous Bananas Gospel Brunch is moving to Funky Monkey Pointe Orlando every Sunday at 12 noon.
