Inside Look: Lunch at Caja Caliente, Miami

Caja Caliente celebrates the traditional flavors of Cuba while adding a modern twist. This foodie spot has two Miami locations: one brick-and-mortar in Coral Gables and one food truck located in Miami’s Design District. We were invited to stop by the food truck and taste some of Caja Caliente’s most popular menu items for lunch.

We highly recommend stopping by Caja Caliente earlier in the day, as certain menu items are known to sell out quickly.

Pan con Pollo

For a fresh and filling lunch, we recommend trying the Pan con Pollo. This shredded chicken sandwich features pico de gallo, potato sticks, cotija cheese and caja aioli served on a pressed Cuban bun. The potato sticks add a tasty crunch while the other ingredients bring out the Cuban flavors. Overall, this is a great chicken sandwich.

Cuban Tacos

Perhaps the most famous offerings at Caja Caliente, “The Famous Cuban Tacos” are an absolute must-try. A variety of tacos are available, but we went with the Lechon (pulled pork), Pollo (shredded chicken), and Mahi Mahi Tacos.

All three were extremely flavorful and delicious, but if you can only try one it should definitely be the Mahi Mahi Tacos. The fish was cooked to perfection and paired wonderfully with avocado, black bean pico, cabbage and caja aioli. These tacos are ideal for a quick mid-day lunch break.

Caja Caliente also offers a tasty variety of bowls, burritos, pastries, desserts and more. For more information, visit Caja-Caliente.com.
