Weekly Upcoming Foodie Events Roundup!

Ancient2

Having your food critiqued by Gordon Ramsay, Graham Elliot and Joe Bastianich is both terrifying and inspiring, but with each dish presented, Orlando’s very own Francis Biondi became a better cook.

The amazing guys over at The Ancient Olive let him use their ultra premium infused olive oils, balsamic vinegars and artisan goods, to come up with new recipes! These classes will reflect the dishes he came up with, as well as showcase the great local produce coming out of Central Florida.

Come hang out with Master chef contestant Francis Biondi in Winter Park, learn some basic culinary techniques, and after, enjoy the food you all make together. This will be done in an intimate setting and space is limited to just 14 spots per class.

“TACOS & TATAS TUESDAYS” is back! The entire month of October, all five Rocco’s Tacos & Tequila Bar locations will donate a percentage of their famed Taco Tuesday sales to breast cancer research via Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Since launching the annual campaign in 2011, Rocco’s Tacos has donated more than $62,000 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, and in 2014 owner Rocco Mangel has set a goal of raising an additional $30,000.

In hopes of generating additional contributions, anytime Rocco is on the bar in his custom-made breast cancer awareness pink patent leather shoes, he’ll pour complimentary tequila as a thank you. Any supporter that donates $25 or more will also receive a bottle of tequila to take home. Follow him on his Facebook fanpage to find out where he’ll be at www.Facebook.com/RoccosTacos.

As an honorary chair of the South Florida Chapter of Susan G. Komen, Rocco Mangel will host a team at the West Palm Beach Race for the Cure on January 31, 2015 and ALL members of the Rocco’s Tacos staff have generously contributed to the team, giving 100% participation to this cause that is very dear to Rocco’s heart.

On Tacos & Tatas Tuesdays, for $14.99 per person guests can indulge on all-you-can-eat tacos including Rocco’s signature chicken, pork, steak, beef, mushroom, shrimp or mahi tacos, each outfitted with all the fixings. First Annual Florida Local Food Summit to Debut at East End Market

Audubon Park, FL Sept. 24, 2014 – The sunshine state’s most progressive and talented sustainable food and farming experts will converge at East End Market Oct. 3-4 for the inaugural Florida Local Food Summit. The impressive collection of food-focused minds will spend two days covering numerous issues affecting local food culture while leading comprehensive, hands-on seminars. The Summit (organized by East End, Florida Organic Growers, Earth Learning Institute, and Local Roots Distribution) will also feature breakout sessions, guest speakers, a happy hour mixer and a VIP southern Farm to Table dinner.

Designed to pay homage to local food and farming pioneers who are forging new paths for the future of Florida’s sustainable food effort, the event will demonstrate methods for duplicating their innovative techniques. The Food Summit educators will include local farmers, “foodprenuers,” sustainable food activists and key community influencers, who will collaborate with participants and fully equip them with imperative resources, opportunities and skills to positively impact the state’s local food systems.

“The Florida Local Food Summit wouldn’t have come to be without a gracious cohort of nonprofit organizations, food retailers, distributors, farmers, chefs and ag-curious citizens,” said John Rife, East End Market owner. “Bringing events like this to life was one of our strongest motivators in the conceptual phase of East End Market, it’s very fulfilling to see it come to fruition.”

The two-day affair is expected to flourish into an annual East End Market tradition. For tickets, event and sponsorship information visit: www.floridafoodsummit.com
