Chef McGlamery tells us the name is almost “reverent, yet something different – respectful and playful – or deep in a pleasant lost thought.”
After more than two decades playing a central role in elevating Winter Park’s restaurant scene, McGlamery is launching his own independent concept—reinforcing his deep roots in the community and bringing forward a vision that blends craft, comfort, and meaningful hospitality.
“Winter Park has been my home for over twenty years, and there’s no place I’d rather introduce TheReverie,” said McGlamery. “It’s an honor to build our new concept in the same space that Vincent Gaglioni and his family built the legendary Chez Vincent”. McGlamery added, “Collaborating with Brandon Manly and the team at Foundry Hospitality to deliver exceptional food grounded in connection, technique, and true hospitality is a tremendous thrill.”
“Foundry Hospitality is built on extraordinary talent creating memorable experiences,” said founder Brandon Manly. “Partnering with Chef McGlamery on The Reverie allows us to bring a remarkable new concept to Winter Park with a shared commitment to craft and community.”

Traveling to Tokyo for the first time is exciting, especially in spring when cherry blossoms start to bloom and the city feels alive with color and energy.
To help make the trip a little smoother for our friends, I’ve put together a list of practical tips — from loading Suica onto your iPhone and navigating the subway with Google Maps, to useful Japanese phrases, etiquette, food hacks, and must-know travel habits.
Whether you’re planning to eat your way through konbini snacks, explore different neighborhoods, or simply wander under sakura trees, these tips will help you travel confidently and enjoy every moment.
Here are Our Top Tips for Visiting Tokyo for the First Time Spring 2026 Edition
Load Suica or PASMO onto your Apple Wallet before arriving. This becomes your main tap-and-go transportation card for trains, subways, buses — and even vending machines and convenience stores. You can recharge right from your phone. Super Convenient!! Add it using the transit option on your Apple Wallet. It works even in places where they say they don’t accept credit card but they still do have SUICA/IC pay options…
Use Google Maps (or Japan Transit App) for subway navigation. It shows exact platforms, carriage numbers for transfers, and which train cars are closest to exits. Hyperdia works too, but Google Maps is easiest for visitors.
Learn a few essential Japanese phrases for checkout & daily use.
Sumimasen — Excuse me / Sorry / To get someone’s attention
Arigatou gozaimasu — Thank you very much
Onegaishimasu — Please / I’d like…
Ikura desu ka? — How much is it?
Kore kudasai — This, please
Fukuro wa irimasu ka? — Do you need a bag? • Hai (yes) / Iie (no)
Bring a small compact tote bag. Grocery bags often cost extra, and eco-bags are common. Use it for snacks, souvenirs, or konbini hauls. Also helpful for carrying your garbage till you get back to the hotel because there are very few garbage cans in Tokyo. (See number 9)
Convenience stores (konbini) are a must and super convenient. Try food at 7-Eleven, Lawson, and FamilyMart — onigiri, egg sandwiches, karaage, coffee, matcha snacks even smoothies. Affordable, super convenient, and surprisingly delicious.
Cash is still useful — carry some yen! Many places take credit cards, but small restaurants, market stalls, gachapon machines, shrines, and mom-and-pop shops may be cash-only. Bring some yen. The Suica might help in some of these cases where they say cash only and they might have suica pay options but there still are some cases where it is cash only.
Be mindful of train etiquette. Trains are quiet — no loud conversations, phone calls, or eating meals inside. Priority seating is respected for elderly, pregnant, and handicapped. Actually, eating meals while walking is also frowned upon so try to find somewhere nearby to post up to enjoy your “street foods”.
Cherry blossom season is busy — plan & reserve early. Book hotels, restaurants, and popular activities ahead of time. Weather can vary: pack layers. Your hotel can often help you navigate and book restaurant reservations for you if you think there may be a language barrier or need assistance.
Public trash cans are rare — keep a small zip bag for trash. You’ll often carry garbage until you find a bin, usually near vending machines or konbini.
Try different neighborhoods — each has its own flavor. – here is a quick rundown but I will probably go deeper into this topic next time.
Shibuya: young, trendy, shopping & nightlife – home of famous Shibuya Crossing and Sachiko Dog Statue – think Times Square NYC
Harajuku: fashion & cafés (near Shibuya)
Shinjuku: neon, skyscrapers, food alleys as well as home to Kabukicho – Tokyo’s red light district
Asakusa: temples, traditional Japan – home of Asakusa Senso-Ji Temple, oldest in Tokyo, and a great broadway of shops and snacks
Akihabara: anime & tech and maid cafes…
Ginza: luxury shopping – think Fifth Avenue / Beverly Hills of Tokyo
Odaiba: waterfront & teamLab Planets – very family friendly area including massive malls and a lot of kid friendly activities
Make restaurant reservations where possible. Many popular ramen, omakase, or themed restaurants use waiting lines or reservation-only systems. There are some chain restaurants which are super affordable and easy to dine in at as well which we will make a list about in the future – of course quality is not the same as local spots but still a good experience in a pinch.
Don’t tip — it isn’t expected in Japan. Tip is already built in to the cost of the dishes, as well as tax usually.
When paying at shops or restaurants, place cash/card in the tray. Hand-to-hand exchange isn’t common at counters.
Shrine & temple etiquette: Bow at torii gates, rinse hands at purifying fountains, toss a coin when praying, bow respectfully.
Activate international service on your cell phone/ download Google Translate. It’s about $10 a day up to 10 days, or $100 for the month. Then Live camera translation using Google translate is great for menus & signs.
Be punctual — trains run like clockwork. If a train leaves at 14:03, it means 14:03, not 14:05. I looked into the JR Rail Pass but unless you are traveling to multiple cities it is not worth it if you are only traveling to / from Kyoto and Tokyo. Shinkansen ticket purchasing can be confusing – I am still not sure how I made it through haha.
Bring comfortable shoes — you will walk a LOT. 15,000–25,000 steps daily is common for travelers.
For photos: morning is best for crowd-free shots. Especially at Shibuya Crossing, Senso-ji, and Meiji Shrine.
The beloved Sweet Tomatoes is set to return to Florida in 2026 according to a recent social media post by their official page from Tucson, Arizona.
On Sunday, December 7th, they confirmed that Sweet Tomatoes is returning to Florida in Ft Myers, Florida.
It began with a few cryptic posts for a few weeks leading up to the announcement today.
And finally, an announcement of return.
Sweet Tomatoes began under the Souplantation name first opening in 1978 in San Diego, California and was known as an affordable all-you-can-eat, self-serve buffet with a large salad bar with fresh produce and vegetables, soups made from scratch, baked breads and muffins, pasta or potato bars, and dessert/soft-serve ice cream among other offerings.
They had 23 locations in Florida including right here in Central Florida.
However, in March 2020, the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic triggered closures nationwide due to health regulations and concerns around communal/self-serve buffets. On May 7, 2020, the company announced that it would permanently close all of its 97 Souplantation and Sweet Tomatoes locations across the U.S., including those in Florida.
In 2021, Winter Park Florida-based company ST Three LLC purchased the intellectual property and assets associated with Sweet Tomatoes/Souplantation and in April 2024, the first reopened location under the revived brand opened in Tucson, AZ.
There have been recent reports from eyewitnesses indicating that the former south Fort Myers location is undergoing interior remodeling under the direction of a design and development firm, which suggests preparations for a reopening.
According to locals who have spoken with the contractors on the ground, it appears the construction should be complete in 2-4 months which puts it at Spring 2026 opening timeframe. Keep an eye out for future announcements.
The first location in Florida since their restructuring will be at 14080 S Tamiami Trail, Ft Myers, FL.
This is exciting news, especially with the headquarters of the ownership being in Winter Park and the “wizard” motif – there may be hope that Sweet Tomatoes will return to Orlando soon.
Prato is a Michelin-recognized Italian restaurant owned and operated by the Park Lights Hospitality group in Winter Park.
They recently re-opened after a multi-week “riposo”, or pause in service while undergoing a series of brand enhancements.
Nearly a year in the making by the Park Lights Hospitality team, Prato paused service for the month of October to complete a refresh including an enhanced bar and dining room, refreshed branded elements, and back-of-house upfits to support the restaurant’s historically cozy kitchen.
“Over the last 14 years, we’ve been fortunate to serve so many in our community,” said Scott Bowman, President of Park Lights Hospitality Group. “We’re a very busy restaurant, and over the last year we identified key areas to improve to give Prato the firepower it needs for the next 14 years and beyond. We are lovingly referring to this pause as a Riposo – the Italian concept of taking a break before returning refreshed.”
What were the reasons for the “riposo”?
The restaurant has been a staple in the Orlando community for the past 14 years and needed a refresh. Our kitchen needed some breathing room to support our demand and our dining space got some elevated components like a new bar, intentional decor, plus an updated food and beverage menu.
While Prato was closed, the team spent the month engaging in community engagement activities. From outings at the Orlando Magic game to learning about how beer is crafted at Ivanhoe Park Lager House, to enjoying wine education.
Will you still have the Mustard Spaghettini on the menu??
Absolutely. That dish isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, it’s such a classic dish of ours and a guest favorite.
What is going to be new at Prato? What are some upcoming plans for Prato for the next 14 years and beyond?
We welcome our guests back to Prato to enjoy an elevated and more sophisticated version of Prato with all the same nostalgia our guests have known for the last 14 years. November 16th is actually our 14 year birthday!

Filipino-American bakery The Baker’s Son is officially opening this Thursday December 4 and it’s the very first location in Orlando / Central Florida, right outside Disney World in Kissimmee. Here is a sneak preview inside:
Founded in Jacksonville, Florida by Dad, Chef Jun Valerios, the bakery is a true family operation, with son Arvin managing the new Kissimmee shop. They’re famous for their traditional and modern Filipino breads such as pandesal, ube breads, cream cheese rolls, Spanish cream bread, and so much more. I just tried the ube bread wanting just a bite and literally inhaled it because it was so good – and not too sweet.
This new space is also five times larger than the original Jacksonville bakery.
For the first time ever, they’re introducing a dine-in Filipino-American menu featuring creations by son Jelo, including loaded longanisa fries, Philly bistek sandwiches, Pinoy pancakes, and my personal favorite – the sinigang popcorn chicken. The café lineup is stacked too: pandan cream latte, ube cloud lattes, soft-serve ice cream, and more.
Don’t miss opening week as they’re giving away FREE pandesal to the first 50 people in line each day, Dec 4–7 starting at 7am!!
Address: 4797 W Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy, Kissimmee, FL 34746
Hours: 7AM–9PM daily
Go check them out ASAP because this is about to become an Orlando landmark.
Did you know that Wish of a Lifetime is a charitable affiliate of AARP that grants life-changing wishes to older adults (similar to Make-A-Wish) as they look to inspire people to age with hope and joy?
This month, they are granting a wish that proves you are never too old for a little theme park magic. Dorleane, a 70 year old devoted mother and full-time caregiver from East Point, GA, will travel to Universal Studios this November, a place she hasn’t visited in over 20 years. This trip holds deep meaning for Dorleane: it’s where she shared one of her last joyful family memories with her late husband Carl and their three children before his unexpected passing two decades ago. Wish of a Lifetime from AARP is proud to make this dream a reality.
Dorleane spent 36 years working in public service for the City and County, but her greatest commitment has been caring for her daughter Tiffany, who lives with Type 1 diabetes and epilepsy. When Tiffany contracted COVID-19 in 2020, she was placed on a ventilator and had to relearn how to walk and speak. Since then, Dorleane has been her round-the-clock caregiver, administering her medication and performing at-home dialysis before sunrise. Since the death of her husband, Carl, Dorleane has balanced single parenthood, full-time work, and Tiffany’s care, making family trips nearly impossible—until now.
Dorleane’s wish is to revisit Universal Studios, the place where she spent one of her happiest days. She’s especially excited to experience the new Isle of Berk attraction, inspired by one of her favorite movie franchises, How to Train Your Dragon. This trip is not only a visit, but a chance to reconnect with a place filled with family joy and create new memories with Tiffany.
Big thank you to Wish of a Lifetime and Universal Orlando for making this happen! Their favorite bites were the candy coated pecans 🙂

As winter settles over Winter Park and the holiday decorations and lights appear along Park Avenue, Grappolo Cucina Italiana becomes an inviting refuge for leisurely evenings and festive gatherings. One of the newest restaurants on Park Avenue, they have been starting to get a lot of buzz for their excellent Italian cuisine.
All through December, this new neighborhood favorite at 526 S Park Avenue is celebrating the season with a special menu that focuses on comforting Italian flavors, elegant seafood, and thoughtful classics that feel just right for holiday dinners, date nights, and end-of-year celebrations.
Here is a quick look inside the December Specials at Grappolo:
This winter, at the heart of Grappolo’s new December offerings are the house-made dishes that speak to the warmth of an Italian kitchen.
The Melanzana alla Parmigiana layers tender eggplant with tomato sauce, mozzarella, and basil pesto, creating a dish that is both comforting and refined, with each bite bringing together gentle acidity, soft creaminess, and herbaceous notes.
The Polpettine di Carne offers another kind of comfort, with homemade meatballs nestled in rich tomato sauce and served with toasted bread. It is the kind of plate that invites slow conversation, perfect for sharing at the start of the evening or savoring alongside a glass of wine.
Seafood lovers and guests in the mood for a generous main course will find plenty to enjoy on the December menu as well.
The Capesante presents pancetta-wrapped sea scallops on a velvety potato purée, combining delicate sweetness from the scallops with a hint of smokiness and a smooth, satisfying base.
For a touch of luxury, the Panciotti di Aragosta features fresh pasta parcels filled with tender lobster and topped with a lobster tail, a dish that feels celebratory without losing its sense of balance and subtlety.
The Salmone con Salsa al Pesto di Pistacchio provides another elegant option, pairing grilled salmon with creamy pistachio pesto for a harmonious blend of rich nuttiness and gentle, clean flavor from the fish.
Guests who prefer land-based mains can look to the Saltimbocca alla Romana, where veal scaloppine with prosciutto and sage offers a classic combination of savory depth and aromatic freshness.
Beyond the menu, the ambiance at Grappolo Cucina Italiana is designed to make December evenings feel relaxed and memorable. Soft lighting, the gentle hum of conversation, and the clink of glasses create a setting that works just as well for a quiet night for two as it does for a small holiday gathering.
Select evenings throughout the month, including December 10, will feature live background music that adds an extra layer of charm without overwhelming the room. It is the kind of setting where time seems to slow a little and where each course has space to be enjoyed fully.
Whether you are planning a festive dinner with friends, a seasonal date night, or a special meal to mark the end of the year, Grappolo Cucina Italiana offers a December experience that feels both polished and welcoming.
With seating limited and the month-long menu available for a short time, reservations are strongly recommended. Gather your favorite people, choose a night that suits your plans, and let Grappolo’s December menu become part of your winter traditions in Winter Park.

Mariam Coffee — a specialty café brand blending traditional Turkish and Arab-style coffee with modern café fare — has recently begun expanding into the U.S., including a new location downtown Orlando that opened last year.
Mariam Coffee offers a broad, culturally-rich selection — from traditional Arabic/Turkish-style coffee (often brewed with cardamom or via traditional sand-coffee methods) to espresso and filter blends — making it appealing to both fans of classic Middle Eastern coffee and those used to “Western-style” café drinks.
They are now offering franchise opportunities across many states (including Florida), with a total investment range advertised at roughly US $149,000–$283,500 for a new store.
For entrepreneurs in Central Florida, that means an opportunity to bring a niche, multicultural coffee experience — with beans/blends rooted in Mediterranean and Middle Eastern traditions — to a growing, diverse market that appreciates authenticity.
Mariam Coffee’s franchise model includes operations support, site-selection assistance, and marketing/training backing — which helps lower the barrier to opening a new location and makes expansion into diverse U.S. markets like Central Florida more feasible and attractive.
Mariam Coffee To Start Franchising New Locations in Orlando / Central Florida Area
With the U.S. specialty coffee market booming — nearly half of American adults had a specialty coffee in the past day in 2025 and overall demand continues to climb — there’s strong tailwind for a new coffee shop, especially one offering unique blends or cultural specialty coffee.
Meanwhile, consumer interest in Middle Eastern and Arabic-style coffee and cuisine is growing rapidly in the U.S., making a café like Mariam Coffee appealing to a broader customer base curious about authentic, quality coffee traditions.
For those interested in franchising Mariam Coffee, e-mail orlandomariamcoffeefranchising@gmail.com for more information!
Mills Market is proud to announce the launch of Meals 50, a goodwill initiative dedicated to giving back to the Orlando community through food.
Each month, Mills Market will host curbside pop-up events in collaboration with local chefs and restaurants, with a portion of proceeds going toward donating 50 meals to those in need. The meals will be freshly prepared by Mills Market, and delivered by the team in partnership with local charitable organizations.
Inspired by the heart of the Mills 50 neighborhood, Meals 50 kicked off this past week, serving 50+ meals to The Salvation Army Women & Children’s Shelter just a few blocks down the street.
“We wanted to start as close to home as possible,” said co-founder Johnny. “Meals 50 is cooking for the community. We’re using the food truck to bring Mills Market to those who aren’t able to come to us. It’s our way of saying thank you to the amazing neighborhood that has supported us all these years.”
At its core, Meals 50 is about community nourishment — using food as a way to bring people together, create awareness, and support those in need. Mills Market hopes to involve the entire community — from restaurants and chefs to guests and volunteers — in shaping this movement into something that truly gives back to the neighborhood that inspired it.
“Orlando has been open-minded and supportive of our restaurant concepts over the last 18 years since Jimmy and I moved here,” said Johnny Tung. “The least we can do is give back to the community in the best way we know how — through food.”
The launch of Meals 50 right before Thanksgiving marks the start of what Mills Market hopes will become an ongoing tradition of giving and connection throughout Orlando.
Little Saigon is a Vietnamese restaurant located at 1106 East Colonial Drive, Orlando, FL 32803 that has been a part of Orlando’s Vietnamese community since the 1980s. It’s the longest serving restaurant and oldest Vietnamese restaurant in Orlando, a taste of home for the Vietnamese community that began to grow in the late 1970s with refugees arriving after the Vietnam War. Over the years, it has become one of the first places Orlandoans have ever tried Vietnamese food.
I remember growing up in the 1990s we would always make it a point to stop in Mills 50 after traveling from South Florida to visit Walt Disney World here in Orlando. One of the places we would eat at was Little Saigon – it was here that I had my first try of Com Dac Biet or special rice platter with egg, pork casserole, pork chop, and tomato and vegetables with a side of nuoc cham sauce drizzled on top – it made this little boy feel like a king eating that meal.
This past year, the Orange County Regional History Center in downtown Orlando had an exhibit called Orlando Collected, celebrating the city of Orlando’s 150th anniversary with an exhibition of 150 historical objects that showcase Orlando’s history through the items collected from its past. Little Saigon’s menu from circa 2000 as part of the exhibit.
After nearly four decades of serving authentic Vietnamese cuisine, family-run restaurant Little Saigon will be closing its doors at the end of this year.
Brother and sister Vu Nguyen and Mai Huynh who have run the restaurant since Little Saigon’s opening in 1987 reflect on their journey with gratitude.
“When we first took over, Little Saigon was just a small 1,000 square foot empty space with a double door fridge. Over the years, we grew through four expansions, all while keeping it a family operation,” said Vu Nguyen. “We are happy to say that we can retire thanks to this community.”
“We have so many shared memories as a family here. Our parents worked in the restaurant until they passed a few years back; they would often come by and add touches to the pho and sauces to make sure everything was just right for every guest. It gave them a sense of purpose,” Mai shared.
“Vu and Mai extend a final, heartfelt thank you to everyone who has dined with them, celebrated milestones, and supported the restaurant through its journey.
“As one of the original Vietnamese restaurants of Orlando, we are proud to have shared our culture and a little piece of home for four decades. We loved hearing that we were the first for many to experience Vietnamese cuisine. We THANK YOU for the love, generous support and feel so much gratitude for our time as Little Saigon. Thank you for 40 years!”
Their last day of service will be December 28, 2025 – so go visit them soon and wish them a great farewell, Orlando!

In 1940, Irving Lippton opened Southeast Steel as a building supplies store, not in its current location. The original store was located where the Lynx Station currently sits. In the 70s. Southeast Steel moved to 63 West Amelia Street in Downtown Orlando and has been in this same location ever since.
My Lippton, Founder of Southeast Steel worked until he was in his 90’s. One of his secrets to success was Hard work, which included being on time, taking care of customers, and being honest with customers. Mr. Lippton believed in standing by his word and said that they did it when they said they would do something.
Mr. Lippton’s son-in-law Stuart Kimball, who took over as President, and his grandson Spencer Kimball who is the Vice president, are also cut from the same cloth, and both generations believe in hard work and carrying on the customer service model that is rare to find in most businesses nowadays. Stuart [Stu] Kimball started working with his father-in-law and later took over as President and still is to this day. Spencer Kimball joined the family business after completing his Engineering Degree at the University of Florida.

You’ve bought the turkey. You’ve prepped the brine. You’ve maybe even baked and frozen the pies. You’re ready for Thanksgiving dinner.
But have you thought about being prepared for leftovers?
Leftover safety for a larger-than-life meal like Thanksgiving can be a food safety minefield. University of Florida expert Keith Schneider, professor of food safety, says it can be an often-overlooked part of the Thanksgiving meal.
Since Thanksgiving spreads are larger and have more moving parts, they tend to sit out for longer. In addition, they tend to serve huge groups of people – both of which amplify the risk of food poisoning.
“What you don’t want to do is spoil a family get-together by getting people sick,” he said. “But a few moments of planning and awareness can help prevent a big mistake.”
In general, he said, keep hot items hot and cold items cold during serving and throughout dinner – a simple-enough rule of thumb. The USDA advises never leaving food at room temperature for more than two hours.
Meat in particular can contain Clostridium perfringens, a bacterium that can cause cramps and diarrhea or more serious concerns, and it is most commonly found in food poisoning situations due to its ability to survive cooking temperatures. If food is allowed to sit out for extended periods of time, for example, past the two hours recommended by the USDA, it can multiply and result in a foodborne illness.
In general, a helpful tip could be to take a few minutes between dinner and dessert to store items away so they stay safe – and you get time to enjoy treats without the worry.
Here’s how to store Thanksgiving leftovers, dish by dish:
Turkey:
The star of the show! Turkey should be cooked to 165 degrees Fahrenheit, sliced and held at 140 degrees until serving. A buffet heater tray is a nice way to keep sliced turkey at the right temperature while a large group serves themselves.
Two hours after coming out of the oven, or less, the turkey should be sliced and put in a shallow container and put in the refrigerator. The turkey should be cooler by then – around 140 degrees Fahrenheit – don’t put hot food into the refrigerator or it will heat up the ambient temperature of the fridge and prompt other food to spoil, Schneider said.
This advice also applies to ham or other non-traditional cuts of meat, like beef brisket.
In the fridge, cooked meat is safe for between three and five days. Turkey and ham can also be put in freezer bags and frozen for up to six months.
Gravy:
Gravy can be tricky when it comes to food safety, Schneider said. It should be cooked until 165 degrees Fahrenheit and held at 135 degrees or higher for serving. When guests are done, put it into small, shallow containers and put it in the fridge.
People tend to put gravy in large, tall containers, which causes the outside to cool while the inside stays extremely hot. This leads to pathogens growing that could cause food poisoning. Refrigerators are good at keeping food cold but not good at removing heat. Using shallow containers will speed up the cooling process, Schneider said.
Stuffing:
Stuffing should be cooked separate from the turkey for maximum safety, but if you have a cooking tradition you must adhere to, here’s how to do it safely.
After the turkey cooks to 165 degrees, with the stuffing in the cavity, remove the stuffing and put it in a separate dish and reheat it again in the oven until 165 degrees. Since the inside of a bird heats up last, it’s likely the stuffing won’t get hot enough while inside the turkey, so reheating is critical.
Once the stuffing is served and bellies are full, place it in a shallow dish and put it in the refrigerator or freeze it.
This also applies to dishes that are wetter and mixed with multiple ingredients, like mashed potatoes, cut potatoes and casseroles.
Be aware that wet dishes like green bean casserole will cool off slower than dryer dishes. Smaller-cut potatoes will also cool faster than larger chunks of potatoes, which means they need to be refrigerated faster.
Roasted vegetables:
While these mostly follow the same principles as stuffing, the high moisture content presents some additional challenges.
Once they’ve begun to cool, they need to be put in the refrigerator within two hours. Keeping them hot during serving and throughout dinner via a buffet heater tray or chafing dish helps with this.
Salad
Salads should be kept chilled until serving and stored away in the refrigerator as soon as possible after dinner – two hours or less after they’ve come out of the fridge. Given their high moisture content and the lack of cooking, they can be a key culprit for dinner-related food poisoning.
“If you’re leaving salads out, that can be an issue if someone eats them for leftovers the next day,” he said.
Pies
Food safety varies based on the type of pie – the wetter, the more cautious you need to be.
Pies like pecan have essentially no water and are low-risk, Schnieder said.
But other pies like pumpkin have lots of moisture and should not be left at room temperature for more than two hours.
Protect yourself and your family this year with a bit of careful planning for not only Thanksgiving dinner but the leftovers that come afterward.

Slap! Hand-Ripped Noodles is a new restaurant in Orlando specializing in hand-pulled noodles, located at 6532 Carrier Drive, Suite B, Orlando, FL 32819.
Highlights include fresh, thick, hand-ripped noodles (also known as biang biang noodles), along with chicken and beef skewers, cumin and beef dumplings, and crispy pancake sandwiches. They also have massive beef short rib add-ons for about $8 which are absolutely worth it – flavorful and tender – a must!
Biang Biang noodles are a type of hand pulled noodle from Shaanxi province, specifically the ancient Chinese capital city of Xian, and known for their long, wide and thick belt like shape.
You can watch the chefs literally slap the dough to make the noodles right in front of your eyes, with portions that are large and hearty.
Even though they’re located right off touristy International Drive, the vibe and decor is very intimate and has a modern Chinese feel. It’s one of my favorite new restaurants this year! Visit ASAP!
Trivia: The “biang” character is also known for being one of the most complex Chinese characters, with many strokes.

Just sharing some recent news – I was recognized as Orange County‘s Distinguished Citizen of the Year for 2025 by Mayor Jerry Demings this past weekend here in Orlando!
Truly grateful for the privilege and blessing to serve our community – and it was extra special to have my mother present with me as well. Over 40 years ago she left behind her homeland of Vietnam for America, braving the seas as a boat refugee so that her future children one day may follow their dreams. Forever grateful for my family and friends, and for every new day an opportunity to give and to grow a better world for tomorrow for our children and for us all. When we give back, it truly is returned 100 times.
